Lead Computational Linguist

Snips is hiring!

Snips is a voice platform for connected devices. It enables makers and companies to add a voice assistant to their products via a simple web interface.

Created in 2013, the vision behind Snips has been to put an AI assistant in every device, making technology so intuitive that it disappears into the background. We are now over 50 people, with offices in Paris and New York.

What makes Snips unique is that everything runs locally on the device the user is speaking to, meaning no data ever gets sent to the cloud. This guarantees Privacy by Design and resilience to internet outages, making Snips the first ever voice technology to be GDPR compliant.

Our web platform was launched in June, and already has more than 7000 developers who created over 17000 assistants.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and consider every profile equally. We are also family friendly, and welcome parents, young parents and future parents!

What you will do

Snips is looking for a Lead Computational linguist to join our team in Paris.

You will be in charge of leading our Language team. This team is responsible for the language dependant logic of our products.

On a day to day basis, you will be instrumental in implementing and shipping code dealing with our linguistic data (like tokenization or textual normalization), as well as building and maintaining the resources necessary to our language coverage (like a few corpora, lexicons and grammars). You will also bring a linguistic expertise to drive improvements for Wakeword Detector, Speech Recognition and Natural Language Understanding solutions at Snips. You can expect to have to brush your skills in phonology, phonetics, syntax and semantics and their application to NLP pipelines.

With your team, you will play a central role in our product life cycle and our ability to cover new languages, in close collaboration with our Product, Engineering and Machine Learning teams.

Our platform already handles English, French and German, with more coming. We will be counting on you to help us scale the process and keep the support of many more languages humming.

English is the official language of the company, as we have over 12 different nationalities, so don't worry if you don't speak French!
